Sharron T MIDA
Sharron T MIDA is an independent researcher, speaker, and industrial artist exploring health- and aged-care design, dementia environments, perceptual science, neuroaesthetics, and art-based technologies. Her work focuses on how visual interventions within environments can support dignity, orientation, well-being, and meaning in health and aged-care settings. Sharron.Art is her public platform for ideas, presentations, publications, and research-led collaboration. She has become a sought-after keynoter and co-author. Sharron is also a Co-Chair at an International Health Informatics Conference (HIKM) and a Co-founder of an HIKM ACM Chapter. While her background includes founding Tailored Art Works!, Sharron.Art focuses on her speaking, writing, and independent research. Sharron collaborates with healthcare providers to make a lasting impact in the aged care sector.

Independent Research
Sharron engages in independent academic research to explore new ways art can positively impact health- and aged care environments, such as Awe Theory for ‘Thin’ or non-denominational spiritual spaces.

Conference Speaking
Sharron speaks at provider and academic healthcare conferences on the therapeutic benefits of art in patient care settings. For instance, the affect on perception when ‘collinearity’, or parallel lines, are used in corridor design.

Public Thought Leadership
Sharron co-authors papers with leading academics. Her evidence draws from real-world applications, evolutionary biology, psychology, perceptual science and neuroaesthetics to create evidence-based papers on Health- and Aged Care design.

Innovative Thinking
Sharron’s research has led to art-based technologies which are innovations that remove triggers, such as stress caused by locked doors and bleak spaces. Her designs have been thoughtfully crafted to foster positive experiences for patients and caregivers alike.

Science-driven Solutions
Since 2008, Sharron has utilised evidence-based strategies in her conceptualising to improve outcomes in Aged Care settings. For instance, increasing perceptual differentation of contrast in signage through edge defination created by shape, tone and texture.

Community Collaborations
As a researcher, Sharron collaborates with Australian healthcare providers, universities, and governments, with a view to advancing the efficacy of the design of Australian Aged Care environments through shared knowledge. For example, testing policy on room door wayfinding and artwork stability.
Expertise in Therapeutic Art Solutions

Evidence-Based Art Applications
Sharron’s approach has been grounded in research, ensuring that each artistic implementation is backed by scientific inquiry to promote better health outcomes.

Dementia-Friendly Design
With nearly two decades of research, Sharron utilised evidence-based strategies in her art installations to address unique healthcare challenges, enabling improved patient outcomes.

Customised Art Installations
Sharron created tailor-made art solutions that catered to the specific aesthetic and therapeutic needs of healthcare facilities.
