2nd Global Conference on neurology and Psychology, Dubai 22 April 2026
At Neuro Dubai 2026, Sharron presented a simple idea: behaviour in dementia is not only a function of disease — it is a response to the environment.
As the brain ages, it relies more on perceptual cues such as contrast, structure, and visual detail to interpret space. When these cues are absent, environments can become cognitively inaccessible, triggering confusion and distress.
Art-Based Technologies (ABTs) address this by embedding structured, meaningful visual cues into the built environment — not as decoration, but as a continuous system supporting attention, orientation, and engagement.
This reframes design as non-pharmacological therapy, where the environment itself supports brain function.
